Dead Time in Paris

The Dead Time list came round today. You earthlings have holidays, we have time off dead. It's an old Lyran tradition, and it's cheaper and easier, not to mention more refreshing, than a holiday. We're limited to two weeks this year, and I've already chosen mine. Looking forward to it.

Bastille Day

Watched the Bastille Day parade today - always good for a laugh. If the French only knew how much of their history had been manipulated by Lyrans! Napoleon's conquest of Europe, for example, was all organised by Lyrans (he was one of us of course - 933) under workstream 7.54. Well, it nearly worked .....

Summer in Paris

Summer's come to Paris and the Parisians are starting to leave. Schools are breaking up, and families are getting ready to leave, usually for the country. Paris doesn't stop dead like it used to when I was here in the thirties, but it changes a lot. And it's started getting hot - Lyrans come from a cool planet anyway, and there's lots of muttering about climate change. OK, we have to destroy the ecology of this world to get back to Lyra, we all know that, but it's a bit hard on those of us who have to walk sweating to work past the pavement cafés full of tourists in shorts and T-shirts.

Looks like the worst is over

Strategy Committee met today and took papers on the situations in France and the UK. Cautious optimism all round. Summer's here, and both Villepin and Clone 44 look as though they are OK for a bit. Everybody's focused on the World Cup anyway. Short discussion on whether the French should be allowed to win. Nice idea, but in the end it was decided not.
