On Line at Last

Done it. And I have a 2Mb connection. I'll be able to post a bit more from now on. Hooray.

Bitter Thoughts

I shouldn't be bitter, I suppose, but I haven't been posting much recently because I've spent most of my time on the phone trying to get an internet connection - without which, of course, I can't post. You have no idea. You have no idea.
"I do think", said 2356 "that you should calm down a bit. Other people have moved house before, you know. Humans do it all the time, apparently."
"Yes, but not while planning the invasion of a major western nation."
"That" said 2356 "is a cheap shot. We all have important jobs to do."

Moving In

Have you any idea how much effort goes into moving these days? If you're a Lyran you can more or less double it. And have you any idea how much help we get. You've guessed it. Zero. And why? Well the Paris office had a complement review in 1933 (they take a long time to get round the world) and they cut the post responsible for transfers. There's another review due in 2009.
"But we should be on our way home by then" I protested.
"Then where's the problem?" said 2356 smugly.

How Appropriate

My apartment is in the rue Caffarelli - which is an in-joke, if you're a Lyran. Caffarelli was a soldier of the ancien regime who became a general under Napoleon, and was killed in Egypt in 1799 ... except he was a Lyran, responsible for some of workstream 7.33, which eventually led to the revolution. One of the few Lyrans ever to die in battle. How about that.
